Northern Carers Network is funded through The Commonwealth Home Support Program to provide flexible respite to people in the caring role, caring for someone who is 65 years and over and who live in the Northern Region of Adelaide.
The Flexible Respite Program offers packages of up to 12 hours per month. The program is ongoing and flexible and arrangements can be changed at any time. Respite can be provided in home or from home.
Time Out is group based respite that has a social and recreational element in which participants can link more broadly to their community and was developed in response to feedback from Carers. Currently there are two groups catering for people over 65.
Northern Carers Network has supports groups specifically for Carers supporting a family member or friend with dementia. Dementia supports groups offer a range of information about dementia and support from others in a similar situation. Respite is also provided for the person you are caring for onsite running concurrently with support group times. See our full list of support groups here.

Northern Carers Network offers access to a range of Support Groups for Carers. Some are specialised and others are more general. Some groups meet monthly and some fortnightly. Some share coffee and a chat and others hear from guest speakers or go out and about. What they all have in common is they provide an opportunity for Carers to connect with people in similar circumstances to their own.
